The Customer: One of the nation’s leading chains of grocery stores operating at over 470 locations

Challenge: The customer was aiming to upgrade their telecommunications infrastructure at all stores, as the existing system was outdated and in need of modernisation. Due to the highly focused sales environment and the need for communication across multiple sites and open areas the system installed had to facilitate many different technologies including digital telephony, IP telephony and DECT Cordless Telephony.

Solution: We conducted a full telecoms audit and devised a cohesive project management plan going forward. We recommended upgrade of the existing data network to accommodate Internet Protocol (IP) telephony which we firmly believed to be the best solution for the Client to adopt given their requirements and predicament. We agreed timescales to allow for minimum disruption to the stores and a comprehensive training programme for all relevant members of staff thereafter.

Result: A total of 470 IP systems and over 12,000 handsets were installed successfully allowing for unified communication platform solution across the multiple sites. The ease of communication between all teams involved ensured the project ran to time and budget.  Expert training organised by Touch Blue for the Client’s teams ensured a smooth transition for users between telephone systems.  This in turn ensured smooth and incident free operation throughout Clients peak trading period.
